Roots: Part I: In the Beginning
Mike Martin - December 8, 2008
These are a series of articles about the origins of the Jewish people from the original books of the Bible that were passed directly from G-d (HaShem) to the Jewish people and over the years have turned into one of the major historical records of the human race. We trace the history behind the Torah and examine the scientific claims that have made to attest and refute this history of the Jewish people. We also revisit the lives and times of two of the most revered and important figures of Judaism, past and present, Abraham and Moses and take a brief look at two major branches of the Jewish faith that have added so much to not only the story of the Jewish people but to the history of the world.

We hope you will join us on this journey ...
The History Behind the Hebrew Bible
Almost everyone has heard of the Bible and at least three major religions make some claim to the ownership of its original story. The New Testament, clearly the story of Jesus certainly causes some major rifts in thinking between Jews, Christians and Muslims but surprisingly some elements of the original Hebrew Bible, the Old Testament, are commonly shared and believed by major strains of all these major religions. Despite claims to the contrary by Christians and Muslims, at its core the Bible is the story of the Jews and narrates their journey as a chosen people under a great and powerful G-d.
